Inside the Minds of Animals

Inside the Minds of Animal

I watched Oprah on Monday and her show was sparked upon this recent article in Time Magazine called "Inside the Minds of Animals". It is a riveting article that explores the depths of the minds of animals. For any animal lover this is a must read article as it opens your mind to such thought provoking questions Can they feel? Do they experience empathy or compassion? Can they love or care or hope or grieve? And what does it say about how we treat them? I have included the article so please click above to read it if you so wish to do so.

As a dog owner and for many of you out there you know first hand that a dog can show you a full spectrum of emotions such as happiness, sadness, jealousy, embarrassment, gratefulness and love. I thought it was a great article to bring to light and to encourage people to think of animals as more then just creatures placed on this earth for us to do what we please with. I hope this article will open people's minds and get more people out there talking about how animals should be treated more fairly and be given better lives then what exists now.

For any of you who watched the Oprah show this Monday it was a tear jerker. I loved all the stories they shared out there and I hope it will get more people realizing the love animals can bring to us and the need for them in our world.

Girls Night Out and Balmshell

Hey Ladies,

My two favourite things wine and lip gloss have paired up for a very fun promotion. Go out to any LCBO location and get a bottle of Girls' Night Out Merlot which comes with a FREE Balmshell Mini Lip Gloss while supplies last! BALMSHELL’s high-end conditioning formula contains lanolin oil, jojoba oil and no artificial preservatives. Perfume-free, BALMSHELL is slightly flavored with a hint of natural fruity vanilla. This unique formula creates a smooth high gloss finish to enhance and give the appearance of full supple lips. It's a great lip gloss that I highly recommend so try it and if you love it go out and buy one! They can be found at any Shoppers Drug Mart location.

My Love For Tea

As a lover of tea and an avid tea drinker since the age of 5 my friend Katie suggested I try the hot spot for tea David's Tea.

David Segal is the brains behind this popular growing chain, he opened his first store in Montreal in 2008 after years of wondering why there wasn't a place you could go for a decent cup of tea. Today David, has a permanent collection of over 100 teas and has stores going up all over the country.

On my first visit to the store I was mesmerized by the collection of teas. I didn't even know where to begin. So I asked the lovely ladies behind the desk to pull some of their favourites for me. The people who work at David's Tea are phenomenal they are very knowledgeable about all the teas and the health benefits they can provide for you.

I decided to go for the Forever Nuts an herbal tea that is a nutty jumble of almonds, apple bits. cinnamon and beetroot. At David's Tea they allow you to smell all the tea's from the canister before you choose one so you can visualize the taste. The heavenly aroma alone from Forever Nuts had me salivating and once it cooled down enough to try it, it was amazing.

Last night I went there again as I just love it and decided to try one of the fall favourites Cocoa paradiso. I had it as a latte and it was again very tasty. I even bought a bunch of it so I can drink it every day as I think its the best tasting thing since chocolate milk. It also has great health benefits as all the teas do. This one in particular has been used to control weight, lower cholesterol and aid digestion. How can you go wrong?

I am glad to see that tea is becoming so popular and can't wait to continue trying all the different tea's David's Tea has to offer. Let the tea revolution begin!

Bailey's Birthday Treats

As always Bailey was showered with gifts for his Birthday! My best friend Adrienne bought him a cute little gift from Timmie Doggie Outfitters which included the adorable Canada jersey and doggie sports themed treats. Bailey like his Dad is a big sports fan so this was a wonderful gift! He can now add that jersey to the many others he owns of the various Toronto sports teams!

Bailey

One of my ultimate loves of my life is my dog Bailey and today he is celebrating his 2ND birthday! So I thought I would blog about him given that he's such a big part of my life. Bailey is a jug(jack Russel/pug mix). He is wild, rambunctious and full of energy. He would give Marley a run for his money and I think I could write my own book given the amount of stories I have from him. He's a handful, but he also has brought so much joy into our lives. I don't know what we would do without him.

Bailey is an interesting character to say the least. He hates squirrels, chipmunks and raccoons and if he sees one on our property he freaks out. The noises that come out of him when he gets a glimpse of one of these furry creatures is so high pitched and squeaky you would think there was a dying animal in our house. Bailey acquires a lot of attention we need to take him on at least 2 walks a day otherwise he will start running laps around the house which can be very entertaining and humorous at times. He is very intelligent and amazes my husband and I all the time. For instance if he is thirsty and he is at any of my friends or family member's homes he will sit in front of their sink and bark until you give him water to drink. If he runs out of food he will carry his bowl to us and drop it on our laps making us feel like neglectful parents. Another story that amazed me but scared the living daylights out of my sister at the time was when she took him for a walk to the park a good few blocks away from my parents house. He decided to run away from my sister at full speed and took the exact path they took to the park back to the door steps of my parents place. It is terrifying to think of the number of things that could have happen to him but I am still impressed with how he got home on his own. I guess he just wasn't in the mood for play date at the park?

Well to commemorate his birthday were having a special dinner and I hope to bake some canine treats so i will post that tomorrow. Happy Birthday Bailey!
